I have been doing shows in La Quinta and Palm Springs for almost twenty years. Every time I return to the desert, I am blown away again by the beautiful colors of the mountains and palm trees--especially during early morning golden hour and sunset. This painting captures a view from Highway 111, where you can see the San Jacinto mountains dusted in snow in the distance, peeking between the lanky palms.

Driving to the Indian Palm Canyons early one morning at dawn, I discovered an even more beautiful vista in the stark desert landscape around me. About the painting: Erin Hanson moved to San Diego in 2017. She has been painting the local landscape there, and this painting of the Cove at La Jolla captures the California coastline in the vivid colors and expressive brush strokes that Hanson has become so well known for.
