Ruby Beach on the Olympic Peninsula was one of the highlights of my trip to Washington. I got there right at the peak of golden hour, and I watched the sky change into a rainbow of fiery hues. This is the first painting I created after my recent inspirational trip to France to follow in the footsteps of the Impressionists. I started out in Paris, visiting many of the parks where the early impressionists and post-impressionists painted. Then I took a river boat along the Seine River, stopping in Giverny to see Monet's Garden and Rouen to see "Monet's" cathedral, and ending in Le Havre and Etretat. This painting of Etretat captures the stunning white limestone cliffs on the northern coast of Normandy, France. Monet was inspired to paint this same unique rock formation 140 years ago.
