The 2017 "super bloom" in southern California caused thousands of visitors to roam the desert and mountainsides, photographing the bright, abundant flowers. I explored the super bloom in Borrego Springs, and they were indeed the most beautiful I have ever seen in the desert! Haystack Rock is a unique rock formation off the coast of Oregon. I used to visit Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock when I was a kid, and I remember many long summer days covered in fog and rain. I was lucky enough to capture this vista in mid-summer, when the fog had cleared and the sun was bright and beautiful. As a side note, I remember first being inspired to have my own gallery when I was twelve years old, and I visited a watercolor artist who had a beautiful gallery overlooking Cannon Beach. I was awed by his huge studio and gallery and fantasized about being like him when I grew up. I was happy to see, when I revisited Cannon Beach a few years ago, that his gallery had grown and was twice the size of when I had seen it as a child!
