The Grand Canyon is a painter's paradise... every morning and every sunset the canyon looks different. This painting was inspired by an early morning out at Hopi Point. As the clouds moved slowly overhead, the first rays of dawn shot through the cloud layer and illuminated the canyon below in an ever-changing dance of color and light. I used thick, expressive strokes of oil paint to capture the strength and majesty of the vista.
