The long stalks of the ocotillo cactus stretch tall into a desert sky full of sunset color. The rolling clouds tumble in the wind, changing hues as the sun dips lower towards the horizon. To capture the movement and vivacity of this scene, as I perceived it in person, I used long, loose brush strokes and bold color that awakens the senses.

This painting has been framed in a hand-carved, one-of-a-kind frame that has been hand-gilded in genuine gold leaf. This frame is a beautiful blend of classic American impressionist frames and contemporary "floater frames," just as my style is a unique blend of the classic and contemporary. ERIN HANSON is a life-long painter, beginning her study of oils as a young child.  Her passion for natural beauty is seen in her work as she transforms vistas familiar and rare into stunning interpretations of bold color, playful rhythms and raw emotional impact. Her frequent forays into National Parks and other recesses of nature include backpacking expeditions, rock climbing, and photo safaris.  Hanson's unique painting style has become known as Open Impressionism, with hundreds of collectors eagerly anticipating her work.  As an iconic, driving force in the rebirth of contemporary impressionism, Hanson is quickly recognized as a prolific, modern master.
