San Diego is home to Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. Located within the city limits of San Diego, this natural area is a balm to the heart of any nature lover worn down by city life. While living in San Diego, Erin Hanson explored the natural beauty of Torrey Pines, sharing her vision of the coastal overlooks, pines, and spectacular sunsets in her western art. Using her open impressionist painting style, Hanson places vibrantly colored brushstrokes side by side to show her textured vision of Torrey Pines.

Torrey Pines State Park
Torrey Pines golf course sits atop the beautiful coastal cliffs north of La Jolla. I was hiking along the beach one day and clambered up the steep cliffs to find myself right next to this golf course. The yellow wildflowers bloomed energetically along the outskirts of the green meadows, while the Torrey pine trees stretched overhead against a darkening sky. "Blooms at Dusk" was created on 1/8" linen board. The brushstrokes are loose and impressionistic, creating a mosaic of color and texture across the canvas. The piece arrives framed in a simple gold frame.

Standing on the edge of one of the cliffs in Torrey Pines State Reserve, you can see the whole panorama of seaside bluffs stretching in both directions. The warm sunset light bathes the landscape in rich hues of cadmium and sherbet. "Sunset Bluffs" was created on 1-1/2" canvas, with the painting continued around the edges of the canvas.
