About the Painting

This painting captures the grandeur and wide expanse of Zion National Park in southern Utah. The loose, painterly brush strokes are alive with texture, creating a three-dimensional rhythm of color upon the canvas.

This oil painting was done on a canvas gilded in 24kt gold leaf. The gold leaf shines through sections of the painting, creating an additional glow of light within the piece. The painting was done on 1-1/2" canvas, with the painting continued around the edges of the canvas. The work has been framed in a carved gold open impressionist frame.

This painting was exhibited in the The Red Rock Show at The Erin Hanson Gallery, June 16th, 2018. Click here to view the other Red Rock paintings.

This painting was exhibited in Erin Hanson: American Vistas at the Nancy Cawdrey Studios and Gallery in Whitefish, Montana, 2019.
