This is a special piece I created for The Orange Show, in the spirit of making the orange/yellow colors pop by creating a background entirely of blue and purple. The sunflowers are captured here in vivid shades that come alive on the canvas, the brush strokes thick and impressionistic. When I was ten years old, one of my favorite things to paint in oils was the roses and other flowers from my mother's garden, and it was great to re-visit the floral still life concept.
This painting was done on 2"-deep canvas, with the painting continued around the edges. This piece has been framed in a gold floater frame to set off the colors in the painting.
Exhibited The Orange Show, The Erin Hanson Gallery, Los Angeles, CA. 2016.
This painting will be on display as part of Landscape & Bloom at Adelman Fine Arts in Little Italy, San Diego from February 4th through March 27th of 2017.
ERIN HANSON is a life-long painter, beginning her study of oils as a young child. Her passion for natural beauty is seen in her work as she transforms vistas familiar and rare into stunning interpretations of bold color, playful rhythms and raw emotional impact. Her frequent forays into National Parks and other recesses of nature include backpacking expeditions, rock climbing, and photo safaris. Hanson's unique painting style has become known as Open Impressionism, with hundreds of collectors eagerly anticipating her work. As an iconic, driving force in the rebirth of contemporary impressionism, Hanson is quickly recognized as a prolific, modern master.
