Coming from the West Coast, it was disorienting to see a sunrise coming over the horizon at Acadia National Park in Maine. The angular, rocky cliffs and rounded boulders caught the warm red and orange light of the rising sun. "Acadia at Dawn" is an original oil painting on linen board, done in Erin Hanson's signature Open Impressionism style. The piece arrives framed in a wide, mock floater frame finished in black with gold edging. This piece will be displayed in Erin Hanson's annual <i><a href="https://www.erinhanson.com/Event/petiteshow2023">Petite Show</i></a> in McMinnville, Oregon. This painting was inspired by my first dawn on the East Coast. The colors were breathtaking and perfect for an Erin Hanson painting. This painting was inspired by my travels to Maine last year, exploring Acadia National Park and the wide open landscapes northwest of the park. New England is full of small lakes and little nooks of beauty, like the one I discovered here. The brush strokes in this painting are loose and impressionistic, alive with color and motion.
