Kyoto, Japan, is a beautiful place to experience the Japanese maples changing color. In this painting I wanted to capture the amazing range of color you see in the temple gardens, from green and yellow to purple and red. There is such a sense of grace in the branches of these ancient maples, as well as a peaceful sense of motion with the gentle winds in the leaves.

This oil painting was created over a layer of 24kt gold leaf, and small flecks of gold reflect the light when the painting is viewed at the right angle.

This painting was created on 1-1/2" canvas, with the painting continued around the edges. The painting arrives framed in a 23kt gold leaf floater frame, wired and ready to hang.

ERIN HANSON is a life-long painter, beginning her study of oils as a young child.  Her passion for natural beauty is seen in her work as she transforms vistas familiar and rare into stunning interpretations of bold color, playful rhythms and raw emotional impact. Her frequent forays into National Parks and other havens of nature include backpacking expeditions, rock climbing, and photo safaris.  Hanson's unique painting style has become known as Open Impressionism, which is now taught in art schools around the world. With hundreds of collectors eagerly anticipating her work and millions of followers online, Hanson has become an iconic, driving force in the rebirth of contemporary impressionism, and she is quickly recognized as a prolific, modern master.
