This painting was inspired by a quiet morning watching the dawn break at La Jolla Point. The park was green and lush, with this beautiful wind-sculpted tree stark against the changing color of the sky. I used thick, impasto oil paint, applied only with a brush, to capture this tranquil moment.
This paintings was created on 1-1/2" canvas, with the painting continued around the sides of the canvas for a finished look. The painting has been framed in a carved gold floater frame.
This painting will be included in the exhibition Erin Hanson: Coastal California, at The Erin Hanson Gallery in San Diego. The artist's reception will take place on June 24th. If you purchase this painting online, it will be shipped to you the week of June 26th.
