Hiking out of the Grand Canyon last October, I was able to watch dusk fall over the canyon from a perch about 2/3rd up from the canyon floor. There is about a one-mile vertical elevation change in the Grand Canyon - quite a hike with a pack on your back! This painting captures the restful scenery and sense of wide-open space you experience here.

This painting was done on 1-1/2" canvas, with the painting continued around the edges. It has been framed in a gilded and hand-carved floater frame.

This painting will be shown in the The Red Rock Show at The Erin Hanson Gallery, June 16th, 2018. Click here to view the other Red Rock paintings.

ERIN HANSON is a life-long painter, beginning her study of oils as a young child.  Her passion for natural beauty is seen in her work as she transforms vistas familiar and rare into stunning interpretations of bold color, playful rhythms and raw emotional impact. Her frequent forays into National Parks and other havens of nature include backpacking expeditions, rock climbing, and photo safaris.  Hanson's unique painting style has become known as Open Impressionism, which is now taught in art schools around the world. With hundreds of collectors eagerly anticipating her work and millions of followers online, Hanson has become an iconic, driving force in the rebirth of contemporary impressionism, and she is quickly recognized as a prolific, modern master.
