This painting of Monument Valley captures the dark red earth and dramatic buttes against a sunset sky striped with color. The brush strokes are loose and impressionistic, each brushstroke fitting together like a mosaic.

This painting was on display at the Art in Embassies program in Moscow.

This painting was included in the exhibition Open Impressionism: The Works of Erin Hanson, a 10-year retrospective and study of the development of Open Impressionism. The exhibition was held at The Goddard Center in Ardmore, OK.
