About the Painting

Mustard plants grow in abundance along Highway 1, their canary-yellow blooms bright against the backdrop of coastal blues. Scintillating color of purple, green, and turquoise swirl together in the waters below. The brush strokes in this painting are loose and impressionistic, the thick oil paint standing out from the surface of the canvas, giving additional depth to the painting.

"California Hues" was created on 1-1/2" canvas, with the painting continued around the edges of the canvas. The piece arrives framed in a contemporary gold floater frame.
