This painting of Canyonlands National Park was inspired by the southern entrance to the canyon. The spring flowers growing by the cliff's edge, standing up against the vigourous wind, were a beautiful contrast against the desert blue sky and the distant layers of red rock. The brush strokes in this painting are thick and blocky, an impressionistic vision of southern Utah. This painting was created on 1-1/2" deep canvas, with the painting continued around the sides.
