The California desert is captured here in vivid color and energetic brush strokes. The warm hues of the desert floor are contrasted with a cool morning sky, while the impressionist movement of the paint strokes capture the fleeting experience of the outdoors. This oil painting was created over 24 karat gold leaf, so that glints of gold glimmer through the paint at certain angles. You can see this effect in the second photograph above.

This painting was created on 3/4" canvas. It has been framed in a wide plein air frame and arrives ready to hang.
