About the Painting

This painting of the Grand Canyon was inspired by the first time I ever saw the Grand Canyon in person, a few years ago. Since then I have revisted the canyon at different times of the day, and this October I will be backpacking down into the canyon to explore it from a different viewpoint. The vibrant colors and repeating patterns of the landscape are surprising and awe-inspiring when seen in person, and I wanted to capture some of that wide expanse of drama in this large oil painting.

This painting was created on 1-1/2"-deep wrapped canvas, with the painting continued around the edges of the canvas. This work has been framed in a gold floater frame. The angular lines of the frame beautifully complement the canyon pattern in the painting.

Exhibited The Orange Show, The Erin Hanson Gallery, Los Angeles, CA. 2016.

Available from The Medicine Man Gallery, in Tuscon, Arizona.
