A peaceful dawn breaks quietly over the desert landscape of Big Bend National Park. The ocotillo stand gracefully in the foreground, their stalks green after the springtime rains, showing their red, bird-like flowers. The brush strokes are loose and impressionistic, creating a mosaic of color and texture across the canvas.

"Desert Ocotillo" was created on 1-1/2" canvas, with the painting continued around the edges. The piece has been framed in a custom-made, gold floater frame.

This painting was exhibited in Erin Hanson: American Vistas at the Nancy Cawdrey Studios and Gallery in Whitefish, Montana, 2019.
