About the Painting

I visited Kyoto, Japan, last year to explore their famous autumn colors. I woke up at 4 am and was standing on the bridge overlooking Arashiyama Park at 5 am when the sun began rising. The entire surroundings were silent and cold... around 30 degrees. The sun finally burst over the distant horizon, bathing the landscape in the richest hues of red and gold I have ever seen.

This painting was created using loose, impasto brush strokes, capturing the vibrancy of movement of the natural landscape. The piece arrives framed in a custom-made gold floater frame.

ERIN HANSON is a life-long painter, beginning her study of oils as a young child.  Her passion for natural beauty is seen in her work as she transforms vistas familiar and rare into stunning interpretations of bold color, playful rhythms, and raw emotional impact.
