Paintings of Utah

About the Painting: An early painting of Arches National Park, here you can see how Hanson was experimenting to figure out how to make the colors in her paint as saturated and bright as the landscapes she saw in person. Exhibited: St George Art Museum, Utah, in a solo exhibition celebrating the National Park's centennial: <i>Erin Hanson's Painted Parks</i>, 2016. <i><a href="https://www.erinhanson.com/Event/ContemporaryImpressionismatGoddardCenter" target="_blank">Open Impressionism: The Works of Erin Hanson</i></a>, a 10-year retrospective and study of the development of Open Impressionism at The Goddard Center in Ardmore, OK. Exhibited: <i>Erin Hanson: Landscapes of the West</i> at Sears Art Museum in St. George, Utah, in 2024.

This painting was included in the exhibition <i><a href="https://www.erinhanson.com/Event/ContemporaryImpressionismatGoddardCenter" target="_blank">Open Impressionism: The Works of Erin Hanson</i></a>, a 10-year retrospective and study of the development of Open Impressionism at The Goddard Center in Ardmore, OK. About the painting: After seeing photos of Delicate Arch, Hanson made the journey to Arches to see the amazing rock formations for herself. She has since explored Arches National Park a half dozen times, each time finding something new in the changing desert. This was one of the first paintings Hanson created of Delicate Arch. This painting was created on 1-1/2" canvas, with the painting continued around the edges. It has been framed in a gold floater frame.
